Hello It's the End of November

Hi everyone,

We have been home for about 28 days and things are going great.  As you know the last time I wrote a message we were still in the Seattle area doing all kinds of tests, seeing doctors, and having lots of Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapy.  We were allowed to leave on the 30th of October.  That was when we got the results of the Kidney Biopsy that showed there was no rejection of the new kidney.  That was a nervous couple of days waiting for that test.

Anyway we finally went home and it has been great.  Alexis is pratically a walker now and is going to school.  That's right I said school.  She has fun with the other kids but is having some trouble learning to wait and follow a routine.  She has grown much since the transplant and is doing well for the most part.  I worry about Alexis because she is immune suppressed but she just loves playing with the other kids.  I guess inevitably she is going to get sick and we have cross that bridge when we get to it.

After a transplant the whole key is getting the medications right, and that's what we have been trying to do.  Alexis's schedule has finally changed from 2 blood test a week and 1 clinic visit in Fairbanks or Anchorage to 1 blood test a week and 2 clinic visits a month.  One in Fairbanks and 1 in Anchorage where she receives her zenapax IV infusion.

Her White Blood Count has recently been way to low and we are in the process of trying to get it back up.  As per the Norm, all this transpired the day before Thanksgiving so no-one was around to help get this medication right away.  We had to have one of Alexis's Provider's pick up the injectible medicine on Friday or today and we are still not getting the special anitbiotics till Saturday.  Only in Alaska!!!!  We may have to keep her out of school for a couple of days next week but we are checking her for fever like crazy since Wednesday.

Besides that we are having a blast with our new little girl.  What a trouble maker, yesterday I left her watching TV downstairs and went upstairs to the bathroom to check on Daddy and Jake.  Well we were talking in the bathroom we heard a knock on the door and it was Alexis.  Boy have things changed.  It's so great to see her have the energy to play, to grow, even eat a little.

Well We'll be in touch soon.

Take Care,

Mama
